Letting go a bit

I have decided to call it a year. We are still doing a bit of math and Latin and we'll probably going to continue that most of the summer, but beyond that, I'm done. I had grand plans of working through the summer, but I started to feel that we needed some time just to be. I am amazed at how the boys are filling their time, especially during this icky, rainy, housebound week. There has been little bickering, lots of hide and seek(quite a feat in this little space we have), and a ton of building and creating. A goose feather found at the park last week started a nature table(shelf) which has since been filled by rocks and shells that James had tucked away, Sean added some of his wooden animals, and we all molded some beeswax creations. I wonder how long James' sun will stick there. Now we need to work on a background. Nothing like some cardboard faux wood to wreck an artistic tableau.

And then there are the forts. I struggle with being a bit of a neat freak, so these are particularly trying for me. They started in the boys' room, but they have been making their way to my kitchen table. It is bad enough when my sewing is all over the place, there is just no eating around this. I think I am doing a good job hiding my dismay. I wouldn't want to be a party pooper.
