Two little boys

My nephew Ethan is here for the weekend. It looks like he may be coming here again for full time daycare in the near future. He is almost five and he splits his time here playing with both James and with Sean. We were doing a lot of pre-K activities before the summer began and he hasn't seemed to have missed a beat.

Both of the younger boys gravitated to the school shelf this morning. It was interesting to see how much longer Sean's attention span is when there is someone else working on a nearby rug.
Both boys sorted shapes; Sean used the three most simple, and I added ovals and rectangles for Ethan.

Sean matched his transportation cards and then I played a memory game with them to challenge Ethan.

They worked together to do a color sort. Sean finds this simple now, but with six colors, he tends to lose interest by the end. Ethan finished it on his own.

Then I pulled out the moveable alphabet and Ethan did some word building. He did remarkably well with it. This boy is ready to read!

We finished up with some practical life activities that the boys can do independently. They were both so focused. (Unlike right now when everyone is running around like maniacs.) We are headed to a cookout shortly and they can all run around outside for the rest of the day.
