Easing back into...

School

James has been working through the summer on math, science, and writing. But now we have added some of Sean's work into the mix. I had only intended to begin history, but when I mentioned it, he requested math as well. Who am I to argue?

I am teaching him math from a combination of Singapore Primary and Rod and Staff. Singapore for concepts and word problems, R&S for drill.

History is from Story of the World. We're using the activity book and also picking and choosing from this lapbook. We've only completed one week, but so far it's a big hit. He is dictating his summaries of each section while I write them down and then we're using his sentences as copywork.

Chris has been joining us at the table demanding, "School too!" He is mostly content with coloring and turning his paper into confetti.

Since he has been talking a lot about shapes and colors lately, I thought it would be a good time to pull out some of the activities I stashed away from when Sean was this age. Here he is sorting colors.

Right now the plan is to get a good start on our year, adding one subject at a time, taking plenty of beach breaks of course! Then we will take as much time off as needed when New Baby arrives. Should make for an interesting fall!
