Ups and downs

I have been feeling quiet and introverted, and the past few days, uncomfortably hot. The start of my third trimester coincided with the first days of summer and a miserable heat wave. I am feeling large and awkward and overheated, which has made me very grouchy. Hopefully my boys will forgive me. I have not had any desire to update this blog for quite some time, but my husband has urged me to keep it going because the boys love to look back at it and because I will regret not posting about New Baby.

Christopher is going through an amazing time of development, yet I feel like we have lived at the doctor's office with him lately. We were given a scare by a local pediatrician when an inaccurate blood test showed  his hemoglobin levels to be dangerously low. Getting accurate test results was a challenge and we have since found ourselves with a new doctor group. Soon after finding that he is indeed okay, he has developed a mysterious rash and hives. Now we are awaiting the results of an allergy screen. We have been forced into a catch up vaccine schedule in addition to multiple blood draws and my poor little man has found himself to be a human pin cushion. Yesterday involved an impromptu trip to dentist, checking out a couple of damaged front teeth. One is chipped, the other has turned grey. The grey tooth may or may not lighten and may or may not abscess and need to be pulled. We have no idea when or how he hit his teeth hard enough to make such a mess of them.

On the other hand, his speech has gone from single words and pointing, to complete sentences seemingly over night. He not only moved out of my bed and into a toddler bed, but moved out of my room and is now sharing a room with Sean. And he has not asked for his pacifier for three consecutive nights. My baby is growing up!
