We finally have a good routine going in the morning. It only took me the entire school year to get my act together with the baby/morning thing.
We start off the school days together. I won't say it's perfect, my 3 year old is definitely three and my teenager is as much of a morning person as his mother. But it's working, and it's a good way to start the day.
We're using a lot of the Ambleside books right now. I read most of them from the computer at The Baldwin Project site.
Our current books are:
The Burgess Bird Book
Fifty Famous Stories
Our Island Story
Just So Stories
Parables from Nature
The Blue Fairy Book
The Aesop for Children
We average around three chapters a morning, one always from the Burgess and the others rotate.
Sean is reading a couple of pages each morning from his Catholic National Reader and he is reading some Cynthia Rylant books on his own.
James is reading Dorothy Mills Book of the Ancient World and Dante's Inferno(for kicks, because he's funny like that. We'll be going through it again together in high school).
I'm trying desperately to keep ahead of James in the Mills book and his Bible History text, so much of my own reading list has been set aside. I need to use the summer to get caught up/ahead for next year! There really isn't enough time in the day.
