That is not my cake, that is from the
recipe blog. My cake wasn't quite so symmetrical and I don't own a pretty serving plate(note to self- buy pretty serving plate). It was tasty though and it made enough dough to throw half in the freezer for Shrove Tuesday.
We will be chalking the door tomorrow after Mass and then I will start to pack up the rest of the Christmas decorations. It's time to do some serious dusting!

We just read the same two Tomie dePaola books for the Epiphany. :) I'm not prepared for a cake, but I told the kids we'd bake one tonight ... it won't be an actual "King" cake, but it'll be yummy chocolate and I think I'll bake a small portion of the batter in a star-shaped little cake pan to represent the star the Wise Men followed.
I just love Tomie dePaola!
I thought these would be nice for Epiphany too: http://blogs.babble.com/family-kitchen/2010/12/14/double-gingerbread-cupcakes/
but I don't have any ginger. Chocolate sounds better though. :)
Those look delicious! I might have to make them next year. ;) And, yes, I think Tomie dePaola is my (our) favorite author ever.
