In the garden, July 23
My cucumber plants are starting to flower. Harvesting the last of the peas, while I wait (maybe just a little impatiently) for the blueberries to ripen.
I'm starting to think about the fall garden. My broccoli was a total flop, so I'm looking at starter plants. I want to get some more kale in there too.
I planted more carrots after I dug out the garlic, but the chickens got in the garden and I'm pretty sure they dug up the seeds. Oh well, better fencing next year!

To the lake!
It's a quick walk for a swim. Easy enough to bring four hot kids for a short cool down and not take up a whole day packing up for the beach. We came back for lunch and we're heading back after quiet time. The pace of summer...

In the garden, July 17
Garlic! I was worried because a lot of it fell over, but I did end up with more than I expected. Not nearly enough, but not bad for a start.
We have wood to start the chicken run. Thechickens are free ranging, but I would like to have the option of having them in a run when we want to go somewhere.

Melt
This little girl is the sweetest and most laid back baby I have ever met. Big smiles, sweet coos: I am just eating up the newborn stage this round.
